Saleshwaram Yatra, often called Telangana’s Amarnath, is a unique and spiritually powerful pilgrimage that takes place just once a year during the Chaitra Pournima (April full moon). Located deep within the Nallamala forest inside the Amrabad Tiger Reserve in Nagarkurnool district, the ancient Shiva temple sits hidden inside a natural cave, where a Shiva Lingam is continuously bathed by a sacred natural spring. Reaching the temple involves a 6 km trek through rugged forest terrain, crossing hills, rocks, and streams, making the journey a true test of devotion. The area remains closed throughout the year, accessible only with special permission during the yatra days, which adds to its rarity and significance. Pilgrims believe that praying here on this auspicious day can wash away sins and fulfill wishes, and it is said that even Lord Rama visited this holy spot during his exile. With no mobile network, no commercialization, and only nature and faith surrounding the route, the Saleshwaram Yatra is a pure blend of spirituality, adventure, and serenity, offering an experience that’s both humbling and unforgettable.
Itinerary
* 12:00 PM – Departure from Hyderabad
* Assemble at the designated meeting point where the Edge Adventures team will greet you with a warm welcome and assist with boarding. We kick off our exciting journey towards Saleshwaram in a comfortable, private AC vehicle. Get ready for an unforgettable experience filled with adventure, nature, and spiritual energy.
* 🍽️ 4:00 PM – Snack Break
* After a few hours on the road, we’ll take a short break to enjoy some light snacks and refreshments. It’s a great time to relax, stretch, and interact with fellow travelers. Our Edge Adventures trek leaders will be available to answer any questions and help you gear up mentally for the adventure ahead.
* ☀️ 5:30 PM – Sunset Break at Dindi Dam
Our next stop is the serene Dindi Dam, a perfect spot to unwind and soak in the beauty of the sunset. Spend some peaceful moments by the water, click some stunning photos, and experience the calm before the trek begins. This break offers a wonderful connection with nature before we venture deep into the forest.
* 🍴 7:00 PM – Dinner Stop
We will halt for a wholesome dinner to ensure everyone is fueled up and ready for the night trek. The Edge Adventures team ensures that you’re well-prepared, hydrated, and comfortable before heading into the wilderness.
* 🏞️ 8:30 PM – Arrival at Saleshwaram Trek Base Point
Arrive at the trek’s base point, where our Edge Adventures trek leaders will conduct a detailed briefing on the trek route, safety instructions, and forest regulations. This is your time to check your gear, fill up your water bottles, and mentally prep for the exciting journey ahead.
* 🚶♂️ 9:00 PM – Start the Night Trek
Begin an exhilarating 6-8 km night trek through the dense Nallamala Forest. Experience the thrill of walking under the starry sky, crossing rocky trails and stream beds, all while surrounded by the mysterious sounds of nature.
Everyone has to be responsible for themself during trek, thousands of devotees will be there on the way.
* 🙏 12:00 AM – Darshan at Saleshwaram Lingayya Swamy Temple
Arrive at the sacred Saleshwaram Cave Temple, a spiritual site dedicated to Lord Shiva. Offer your prayers and feel the divine presence inside this ancient, naturally formed rock cave. Since the temple is only accessible a few days a year, this is a rare and special opportunity for seekers and adventurers alike.
* 🚶♂️ 1:00 AM – Begin the Trek Back to Base
After spending time at the temple and resting, we begin our descent back through the tranquil forest trail.
* 🏁 5:00 AM – Complete the Trek & Reach the Base Point
We successfully complete the trek and arrive back at the base point. Celebrate your accomplishment with the group! After a quick freshen-up, board the vehicle for the return journey to Hyderabad.
* ☕ 7:00 AM – Tea & Refreshment Break
On the way back, we’ll stop for a refreshing tea break. Share your stories from the trek, enjoy some light snacks, and relax during the ride home.
* 🚗 11:00 AM – Arrival in Hyderabad
We reach Hyderabad by late morning, concluding this thrilling adventure. Drop-off will be at the designated location. Head home with incredible memories, new friendships, and stories that will last a lifetime.
